It was a new experience for all as the wet track at parkwood completely ripped up the form book. Jon Hides and Ollie Rebbeck were the pre-race favourites based on previous performance and youth but it was Alan Easter who rolled back the years as his track racing experience enabled him to secure pole position. Ben Saxton's steady approach also got him on the front row of the grid followed by Jon, Garry Hasman, John Wiseman and Ollie who seemend to enjoy spinning out more than driving round the track!

A frenetic first lap resulted in Alan relinquinshing the lead to Jon who never looked back and after 13 months of torment was able to take the victory he had promised! Ben backed up last year's victory with the silver medal whilst our very own crafty cockney John was the surprise bronze medal winner pipping Alan on the last lap.

Sometime later Ollie and Garry both finished after seeing parts of the track most people don't know exist to join the rest of us in a much needed celebratory pint

Jon's moment of triumph is still be savoured and will be until the next time...
