We have just completed a significant upgrade to one of our clients e-commerce website. As a part of the on-going development of their highly successful e-commerce website it was becoming increasingly apparent that sales have increased the time taken to reconcile the website sales orders and stock levels with their accounts system (Intuit QuickBooks) had increased to an unacceptable level. The time taken to manually synchronise the two systems using file uploads had increase to at somepoint 2 hours per day. Not only did this take senior staff away from more productive work.
Because all the websites we develop are based on the Microsoft stack and the fact we are a Microsoft partner, we have access to a wide range of professional database development tools which makes the daunting task of integrating different systems fairly straightforward. The technology we settled on was to use SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and incorporated QuickBooks Source Destination components by RSSBus that connects to quickbooks remotely.
The integrated solution automatically and at regular intervals synchronises:
- Stock levels
- Customer accounts
- Credits
- Cheques
- Invoices.
This has freed up 2 hours of senior staff time per day and has eliminated downtime of the QuickBooks accounts system.
