A service organisation, Magnesium Elektron specialises in the development, manufacture and supply of magnesium products and services worldwide.

Part of the Magnesium Elektron Division of The Luxfer Group, a global manufacturer operating in several different market sectors, Magnesium Elektron required a global manufacturing website that reflected their worldwide experience and international status. Operating in a dynamic and evolving market place where innovation and product excellence are second-to-none, the website needed to convey this worldwide brand.

The website has undergone two major constructions, both have involved Arkom extensively and utilised their skills as web experts to deliver the global manufacturing industry website that Magnesium Elektron required.

The requirement for a new site came about in 2000. The new manufacturing website would primarily be used as an information tool, giving facts and details on the company and its Worldwide manufacturing operations and markets. However after two years it became apparent that Magnesium Elektrons requirements were changing, which is why Arkom were able to recommend a radical overhaul to the website that would more accurately reflect these needs.

Solution

The initial site was developed by Arkom in 2000 to give Magnesium Elektron a global internet presence. It contained a huge amount of text heavy information which wasn’t particularly search engine friendly. By 2002, it became apparent that Magnesium Elektrons needs had changed, in response to this Arkom were now able to offer a solution that would fulfil these new requirements. Arkom were able to offer technology solutions that would enable Magnesium Elektron to adopt a more ‘hands on’ approach to their global manufacturing website.

After meetings and discussions regarding the functional requirements of the site, Arkom were able to suggest ideas on how to use available technology and take the website forward.

The overall feel of the global manufacturing website is that of a full colour glossy brochure, accurately reflecting the impressive, world leading brand.

A Content Management System (CMS) is at the centre of the website allowing Magnesium Elektron the control and flexibility to administer any changes — exactly what they require.

Statistical information and usage patterns are an in-built part of the package, which means the company can monitor which pages are most popular, and which search engines are finding the site.

An e-mail distribution system is also enabled which means that enquiries can be directed to the relevant sales offices around the world.and be dealt with by the relevant personnel.

Arkom were able to offer advice on Search Engine Optimisation, so that the information content always includes essential keywords, which the administrator is able to oversee.
